Kumbhakarna: The Mightiest Warrior of Ramayana and His Legendary Strength

Kumbhakarna was the mightiest warrior in Ramayana and Hindu history. He is said to be more powerful than Ravana and Meghanath who relied mostly on offensive boons from gods. He was the largest Rakhsasa of his time and his mouth is compared to the size of patala and Himalaya mountains .

Kumbhakarna was the incarnation of Vishnu's gate keeper jay-vijaya .

Even as an infant he defeated all the gods headed by Indra and crushed them single handedly . Vajra hurled by Indra couldn't scratch his body . Brahma cursed kumbhakaran to sleep for six months and saved indra and all the gods from his wrath and hunger Indra , Yama and Varuna were unable to kill him with all of their power including celestial rishis . Kumbhakarna ate the entire flesh which was compared to the size of the meru mountain and drank the river full of wine . Kumbhakarna was aware of Rama's identity and urged Ravana to release Sita. Kumbhakarna was the only warrior to injure Hanuman in physical fight He also crushed all the apes including sugreeva (with Bali's goldent pedant) single handedly . The arrow which killed Vali couldn't scratch his body and his valour and strength is said to be superior to Vali and Ravana Kumbhakarna ate vanaras including his own Rakhsasa soldiers when he got hungry Finally he met his end at the hands of Rama who beheaded him with multiple astras
